Lights Out

Olga's Diner has closed--again. I won't say for good because it has been rescued three times in the last year. When I drove by this morning, it made me sad. It was like seeing an old house that's been abandoned, no one living inside it. I used to remember all of the customers that went through there, and how much my feet ached from working there. When your name is on top of a building, it makes it a little different. Even though I knew this day would come, it's still sad.

Peddling to Work

My car saga continues. After the deer hit, my wheel bearings disintegrated. Then the round thingy melted onto the axle. So I'm throwing in the towel. I'm not arranging for any rides to work--I'll just ride my bike. It's exactly 6.1 miles, so what's the big deal? It took me about 35 minutes to travel that distance, and except for a bit of sweat at an uncommon hour in the morning, it wasn't too bad. As long as people are careful and courteous, I'll be fine.
